The Arlington Police Department is investigating a shooting that resulted in the death of a 24-year-old man.

On Thursday, June 19, 2025, at approximately 12:58 p.m., officers were dispatched to an apartment complex in the 1600 block of Nandina Drive in response to a reported shooting.

When they arrived on scene, they located the 24-year-old man lying unresponsive inside one of the apartments with an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased from his injuries.

Witnesses told officers they saw another man leave the apartment where the shooting took place and enter a different apartment that was nearby. Officers located that individual, who was identified as 25-year-old Kamari Marzittie, and discovered he’d been shot in the leg. Mr. Marzittie was transported to an area hospital for treatment and has since been cleared by medical staff. He initially gave officers a false name and was arrested on one count of Failure to Identify, as well as several outstanding warrants out of Dallas County.

After speaking with Mr. Marzittie about his involvement in the incident and reviewing additional evidence that was recovered, detectives charged him with one count of Capital Murder.

Based on their investigation, they believe the victim and Mr. Marzittie were engaging in high-risk drug activity and that Mr. Marzittie was attempting to rob the victim when the shooting occurred.

Following additional investigation, detectives determined another individual, 23-year-old Kewoine Cattenhead, went to the apartment with Mr. Marzittie to commit the robbery. Mr. Cattenhead was also arrested and charged with one count of Capital Murder.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the name of the deceased.
