The Arlington Police Department is investigating a fatal crash that occurred along I-30 over the weekend, resulting in the death of a 19-year-old man.
On Saturday, June 28, 2025, at approximately 3:50 a.m., officers were dispatched to the westbound lanes of I-30 near Baird Farm Road in response to a multi-vehicle crash.
When they arrived, they located the 19-year-old man lying unresponsive in the roadway. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office has publicly identified him as Angel Alonso.
Through the course of their investigation, officers determined Mr. Alonso was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado and collided with an abandoned, unoccupied Jaguar XE that was parked on the right shoulder of the highway. The impact caused both vehicles to move into the main lanes of traffic and become disabled.
Mr. Alonso then exited his vehicle and reportedly attempted to direct traffic around the wreck using a cell phone light. A short time later, a 2014 Lexus IS 250 traveling westbound along I-30 collided with both Mr. Alonso and the Silverado. The impact caused the Lexus to roll on its side.
The driver of the Lexus, 33-year-old Brittani Watkins, was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A 33-year-old male passenger in the Lexus was also transported with serious injuries.
Witnesses told officers they saw the Lexus swerving prior to the collision. After speaking with Ms. Watkins, officers suspected she may be intoxicated. They obtained a search warrant for a blood sample, which will be sent to a lab for further analysis.
Once Ms. Watkins was medically cleared by doctors, she was arrested on one count of DWI. The investigation remains ongoing and additional charges are pending.
Ms. Watkins is currently being held at the Tarrant County Jail.
