Here are a few ways you can enjoy your weekend in The American Dream City.

Volleyball Nations League

The world’s top teams will compete in the women’s Volleyball Nations League (VNL) to the College Park Center in Arlington, Texas for the third year in a row, from July 9-13, 2025. Olympic silver medalists, USA, will face off against Germany, Canada, Dominican Republic, China and Thailand. Spectators can expect a week of intense volleyball action featuring the world’s best athletes. Tickets are available now, offering US fans the opportunity to Be Part of the Action. Pricing starts as low as $27 for a child’s ticket and $32 for adults, including all tax and fees. Tickets are on sale now at utatix.com/VNL25.

Arlington Pools & Splash Pads Open

Get ready for some fun in the sun! The City of Arlington’s Bad Königshofen Family Aquatic Center, Randol Mill Family Aquatic Center, Allen Bolden Outdoor Pool, Woodland West, & Howard Moore pools and its three free outdoor splash pads are open through Labor Day weekend in early September, while the smaller outdoor pools will close in August. Six Flags Hurricane Harbor

The largest water park in North Texas is back open daily for the summer. Head over to Six Flags Hurricane Harbor or its website to purchase tickets and passes.

M.C. Escher: Infinite Variations at the Arlington Museum of Art

The Arlington Museum of Art is bringing the mind-bending work of M.C. Escher to Arlington for its summer exhibition through Sunday, August 3, 2025. With over 150 works spanning the career of the graphic designer, M.C. Escher: Infinite Variations explores the metamorphic work of one of the most famous printmakers in modern times. The Smurf Experience

This 13,000-square-foot, fully immersive attraction will transport families into the heart of Smurf Village. The experience will be held at the Arlington Museum of Art. The 75-minute experience will feature nine mission-based zones filled with interactive scavenger hunts, obstacle courses, virtual reality adventures, meet-and-greets with beloved Smurf characters and more. It's hands-on, high-energy and full of Smurftastic fun for kids and parents alike. The Smurf Experience is not to be missed and is only in Texas until the end of the Summer. Little Explorers – Downtown Library

Stop by The Children’s Play Room at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library on 10 a.m. Fridays for a morning of play-based learning.  This come-and-go program will vary week-to-week as librarians explore art, math, science, engineering, and fine motor skills. Teens 4 Tots: Picture Book Workshop

Do you remember your favorite picture book as a kid? Do you have a little brother/sister, niece/nephew, or little cousin who would love to see you write or illustrate one yourself? In this workshop, you will study the picture book as an art form, have a round table chat about what makes a good read aloud, then put together our own manuscripts! Welcome to Camp Half-Blood

Did you wake up one day and discover you suddenly have powers? Noticed any mysterious creatures that look straight out of a Greek myth? Simply a fan of the beloved Percy Jackson and the Olympians series? Then travel to Camp Half-Blood, library style! Head to the Southeast Branch 3-4:30 p.m. Friday, July 11, 2025, to flex your knowledge of Greek mythology, get a cabin placement, test out demigod abilities, and prove that you have what it takes to keep up with Percy, Annabeth, and Grover. Panic at the Disco!: A 70s Murder Mystery

The House of Groove Discotheque is hosting the annual Disco Fever Contest 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library’s [re]Brary Room A & B! Groovy cats and foxy mamas from miles around will flock to the disco for a chance to compete with the in crowd of famous celebs, musicians, entrepreneurs, and athletes. You can’t wait to show off your best moves to the judges while wearing far out disco threads. However, there are rumors that certain dance duos have been in turmoil. Scandals are surfacing among some contestants. When tensions boil over, who won't be boogying on down anymore? You don't want to miss this far out murder mystery. Be there or be square.

Downtown Arlington Farmers Market

The Downtown Arlington Farmers Market runs every Saturday through November from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot at the corner of Front and Center Streets. The market will feature fresh, locally-source produce, unique artisan goods and community connection.

SNAP Sensory Art

The Arlington Public Library welcomes neurodivergent children and families to Supporting Neurodivergent Access to Programming (SNAP) sensory art! It takes place 10:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. Friday, July 12, 2025 at the Ron Wright Lake Arlington Branch. This program is suited for ages 5-10, physically and developmentally, and aims to provide a safe and inclusive space to children and families that may benefit from sensory experience. This program includes a step-by-step art activity with a sensory element and an opportunity to make an original piece of art using a wide array of supplies. Hand Embroidery: Mounting and Framing

Learn the art of finishing a completed embroidery piece or cross stitch canvas 2-4 p.m. Saturday, July 12, 2025, at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library’s Tinker Room. You will be introduced to the various techniques of mounting and framing and then guide you in mounting your own completed stitching project. This class is appropriate for ages 13+.

Paws to Read

Practice reading aloud with a canine friend! Heart of Texas Therapy Dogs is partnering with the Arlington Public Library to bring dogs for children to read with. Reading to dogs helps young readers improve their skills in a relaxed, friendly environment. Bring your own book or borrow one of ours. There will be sign-ups to read with the therapy dogs before the program begins. Space is limited to the number of dogs available. This program is for ages 5 - 12 only. Feral Cat Sunday

Arlington Animal Services is having a special Trap-Neuter-Return event for feral cats in Arlington 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Sunday, July 13, 2025, at the Arlington Animal Services Center. The first 20 cats to arrive between 8-9 a.m. are eligible for these free clinics. Only the first 20 Arlington feral cats will be accepted, and only one feral cat per trap. Kittens must be at least three (3) months old. Ferals must be in a trap. Learn more about the Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program, or call 817-575-8131.

Sunday Brunch

Ventana Grille at the Tierra Verde Golf Club clubhouse is now serving brunch from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. each Sunday. Menu items include four savory Eggs Benedict entrées, Shrimp-N-Grits, Ginger Salmon, and their favorite - Napoleon's Last Meal, a buttermilk fried chicken breast over bourbon French toast and served with maple syrup!
