Arlington takes center stage on national television 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3, 2025, as the Smithsonian Channel’s “How Did They Build That” features the National Medal of Honor Museum.
This episode, with footage filmed in part by the City of Arlington’s Office of Communication, will give viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the construction of the 100,000-square-foot museum, which opened March 25, 2025. The museum includes 31,000 square feet of exhibition galleries honoring America’s Medal of Honor recipients. A highlight of the museum is its theater dedicated to Colonel Neel E. Kearby, a local World War II hero who grew up in Arlington and became one of the most celebrated fighter pilots of his era and a Medal of Honor recipient posthumously.
