In this episode of Arlington Eats, we visit a sweet new spot that’s making a big impression. Paletería La Flor, a family-owned business officially opened its doors in June 2023. What started as a simple idea during the pandemic has now blossomed into a vibrant destination for both sweet and savory cravings, its owners say.
“We though, this would be really cool to start as a family, and it just kind of became a reality after that,” said Stephanie Flores, social media manager for Paletería La Flor.
The shop offers a wide range of treats — from mangonadas to fruit waters, elote, nachos, and creamy ice cream flavors. Every item in the menu is made with natural ingredients, which made this snack place stand out from the competition.
“If you want something cold or even warm, we have a lot of fruit options,” Flores said. “Everything’s made with real fruit.”
The name La Flor is more than just a pretty title — it’s a tribute to the family’s last name, Flores, and their deep connection to their Mexican roots.
“Growing up, we would always visit Mexico. So, it’s nice to add that little touch of Mexico here in Arlington,” she said.
Starting the business came with its challenges, but Flores said working together as a family made the process meaningful.
“At the beginning it was very difficult, I feel like we just jumped into it,” she said. “There’s so many details that come into making it what it is.”
Paletería La Flor, located at 5300 W. Arkansas Lane, Ste. 110, is open Monday through Saturday from noon to 9 p.m., and Sundays from noon to 8 p.m. For more information, follow them on Instagram and Facebook.
