Public Works Crews Treating Bridge Crossings Ahead of Predicted Snow

Snow is in our forecast later this week, but Public Works crews are already out treating city bridges and overpasses to make them safer for drivers when the temps drop below freezing.

On Monday, Jan. 6, the field operations crew began applying salt brine to nearly three dozen city bridge crossings at Interstate 20, Interstate 30, State Highway 360, Spur 303 (Pioneer Parkway), and Station Highway 180 (Division Street). Salt brine treatments will continue Tuesday, Jan. 7 and as needed on Wednesday, Jan. 8.

Additionally, the eight bridge crossings over Johnson Creek in the Entertainment District will be treated with salt brine Thursday, Jan. 9 ahead of the Cotton Bowl Classic at AT&T Stadium. Public Works crews will monitor these bridge conditions and will have salt brine, sand and equipment on standby to address icy road conditions near the stadium as needed for the event, which is expected to draw 80,000 college football fans.
