Emergency Cold Weather Shelters

Warming centers and overnight shelters will be open in Arlington from Friday, Jan. 23 through Tuesday, Jan. 27 during the freezing temperatures.

The City of Arlington’s Homeless Emergency Cold Weather Shelter plan, which is supported by a federal emergency shelter grant, is activated on dates when temperatures reach 39 degrees or below for four or more consecutive hours overnight. The City is partnering with three organizations, The Salvation Army, First United Methodist Church and Nations Church, to provide a warm place for those in need this weekend.

  • Check in time: 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Jan. 23. Check out time: 9 a.m. Jan. 24.
  • Check in time: 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Jan. 24. Check out time: noon Jan. 25.
  • Check in time: 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Jan. 25. Check out time: 9 a.m. Jan. 26.
  • Check in time: 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Jan. 26. Check out time: 9 a.m. Jan. 27.

Check-in exceptions will be made for drop offs by the Arlington Police Department after hours.

The shelter will only remain open on dates when overnight temperatures reach 32 degrees or less for four or more consecutive hours.

This site can accommodate up to 20 individuals.

Nations Church Arlington, 1013 W. Park Row Drive.

This shelter location will be open continuously from noon Friday, Jan. 23 through 8 a.m. Monday, Jan. 26. This location will operate as both a warming center and an overnight shelter and can accommodate up to 40 people. Meals will be provided throughout the day.

Warming Centers

All Arlington Public Library locations and recreation centers are open to the public for warming, in designated areas, during standard operating hours, excluding holidays. NOTE: The George W. Hawkes Downtown Library will open its lobby and public restrooms at noon, which is two hours earlier than typical, on Sunday, Jan. 25.

Nations Church Arlington, 1013 W. Park Row Drive, will be open continuously from noon Friday, Jan. 23 through 8 a.m. Monday, Jan. 26.

Resources for Homeless Guests with Pets:

The Arlington Animal Services Shelter (accepts pets of homeless individuals as capacity allows). The shelter is located at 1000 SE Green Oaks Blvd. The phone number is 817-459-5898.
