Office of Procurement Receives Achievement in Excellence Award
Published on August 08, 2025
The City of Arlington has been awarded the prestigious 2025 Annual Achievement of Excellence in Procurement® (AEP) from the National Procurement Institute, Inc. (NPI). Arlington was one of only 216 agencies in the United States and Canada and one of only 85 cities to receive the award.
“This prestigious recognition honors our organization’s dedication to procurement excellence and reflects our commitment to innovation, professionalism, e-procurement, productivity, and leadership,” said William Velasco, Procurement Manager. “This achievement demonstrates that our organization has the highest standards in public procurement practices.”
The AEP Award is earned by agencies that demonstrate a commitment to procurement excellence. This annual program recognizes procurement organizations that embrace innovation, professionalism, productivity, leadership, and e-procurement.
The AEP program encourages the development of excellence as well as continued organizational improvement to earn the award annually. The application is designed to encourage procurement professionals to go beyond the minimum requirements as set yearly by the AEP and to recognize innovative programs and solutions that exemplify outstanding achievements. The award not only focuses on practical, documented work but also recognizes leadership and contributions that further advance the public procurement profession.
Arlington’s Office of Procurement, which includes 8 employees, ensures fiscal responsibility in awarding contracts, while ensuring integrity and compliance in all procurement operations.
