The Arlington Police Department is investigating a delayed fatality stemming from a motorcycle crash that occurred earlier this month along the eastbound lanes of Interstate 20.
At approximately 6:59 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 5, 2025, officers responded to a major crash involving three vehicles in the 3500 block of eastbound I-20 Freeway. The crash involved a 2018 Ducati motorcycle, a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado, and a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado.
The preliminary investigation indicates the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed in the outside lane when it made an unsafe lane change to the left. The motorcycle struck the right front quarter of one of the Silverados, then continued left in front of the vehicle while it attempted to brake. The motorcycle then struck the right back quarter of the second pickup truck. The rider was ejected and rolled into the inside shoulder of the freeway.
The rider, identified as 28-year-old Christopher Andrew Herrera of Fort Worth, was transported to Medical City Arlington with injuries that were initially believed to be non-life-threatening. On Aug. 26, 2025, the department was notified that Mr. Herrera passed away from his injuries while hospitalized. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
No other injuries were reported. No charges have been filed in connection to the crash.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the official cause and manner of death.
