Volunteering is one of the most rewarding ways to give back, grow personally, and build meaningful connections—and the Arlington Public Library is inviting you to be part of it.

Attend the Library’s Volunteer Recruitment Drive on Saturday, Aug. 30, 2025 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library. Whether you’re looking to earn service hours, stay active in retirement, or simply share your love of learning, this event offers a chance to discover how you can make a difference.

Attendees will have the opportunity to:

  • Meet current volunteers and hear their stories
  • Explore hands-on activities and creative crafts
  • Connect with representatives from the City of Arlington’s Human Resources, Water, and Parks and Recreation departments
  • Learn about roles that match your interests, skills, and availability

Longtime volunteer Lee Ann Ausec, a former educator, calls the library her happy place. “I’ve always nurtured the love of reading,” she said. “Volunteering here lets me continue that passion while giving back to a place that means so much to me.”

For Callie Armenta, a teen volunteer, the experience has been just as fulfilling. “Being part of the library means creating a safe space for everyone and being the bridge from curiosity to opportunity,” she said.
