The Arlington Police Department has made two arrests in connection to the murder of Terrick Rutherford, who was shot and killed following an altercation at a nightclub in 2003.

Following a thorough investigation, APD Homicide Detectives obtained warrants for the arrests of 55-year-old Raymond Malone and 52-year-old John Wayne Biddle on one count of Murder each.

On July 31, 2025, members of the U.S. Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force located Mr. Biddle in Fort Worth and took him into custody without incident. Task Force Officers located Mr. Malone in Fort Worth on August 1, 2025 and apprehended him without incident as well.

On June 23, 2003, at approximately 2:27 a.m., officers responded to the intersection of Randol Mill Road and Web Street to investigate a reported shooting. When they arrived, they located a pickup truck with multiple bullet holes in it. A relative of Mr. Rutherford was driving the vehicle, attempting to take him to the hospital. Mr. Rutherford was unresponsive and had multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased from his injuries.

Investigators learned the shooting had occurred along N. Watson Road near Six Flags Drive.

Witnesses told officers Mr. Rutherford had been at a nightclub in the 700 block of N. Watson Road earlier in the evening. While he was there, a group of males approached him and began arguing with him. The altercation spilled out into the parking lot of the nightclub where a fight broke out. After nightclub security broke up the fight, Mr. Rutherford left the business and began driving northbound on N. Watson Road.

As he approached the traffic light at Six Flags Drive, multiple shots were fired at his vehicle. Mr. Rutherford was struck by the gunfire, then collided with another vehicle in the intersection. Mr. Rutherford’s relative was following behind him in another vehicle when the shooting occurred.

Detectives at the time identified Mr. Malone and Mr. Biddle, who are documented gang members, as suspects in the shooting. Although they did not have enough evidence then to charge the two men with Murder, they were able to obtain arrest warrants for each suspect on one count of Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity. Both men, however, were later no billed on the charges.

In July 2025, Homicide Detectives were notified that a potential witness wished to speak to them about the case. This individual provided detectives with detailed information that was consistent with the original investigation into the shooting and that placed Mr. Malone and Mr. Biddle at the crime scene. Detectives also conducted follow-up interviews with witnesses from the original case to further corroborate what they’d learned.

After consulting with the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office, detectives moved forward with obtaining the Murder warrants for both suspects.

“When someone does the right thing and comes forward with information, that can be the difference between solving a case and it remaining unsolved,” said Chief of Police Al Jones. “I’m grateful these new details came to light. I’m proud of our current detectives for tenaciously pursuing these new leads and following up on the outstanding investigation the original detectives did on this case to put two suspected killers behind bars.”

Mr. Malone and Mr. Biddle are currently being held at the Tarrant County Jail.
