The Arlington Tomorrow Foundation has awarded a $500,000 grant to Texas Health Resources Foundation to help renovate the Breast Center and Women’s Center at Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital.

The funding will support the hospital’s $9.7 million project to modernize outdated spaces, improve patient comfort, and expand access to advanced medical technology for women and families across Arlington and surrounding communities.

Arlington Tomorrow Foundation board president, Mayor Jim Ross, presented a check to Texas Health Arlington staff on Aug. 14.

“All of us at the Arlington Tomorrow Foundation are delighted to have been able to donate the lead gift to this important campaign and jump-start the effort,” Ross said.  “As the community’s first hospital, Arlington Memorial holds a special place in the history of our community.  These improvements to the hospital’s Women’s Center ensures the hospital continues to offer state-of-art health services for women and families throughout the region.”

“When we first envisioned this campaign, we knew it would take bold leadership to bring it to life,” said Blake Kretz, president of Texas Health Arlington Memorial. “The Arlington Tomorrow Foundation not only saw the vision, but they chose to lead it. Their belief in this project, and in the critical importance of investing in women’s health, means the world to us.”

The Breast Center, originally built in 1985, serves more than 9,000 women each year. Renovations will include a reconfigured reception area, a dedicated biopsy suite, upgraded equipment such as a new 3D mammography unit and bone density scanner, and aesthetic updates to create a calming, spa-like atmosphere.

Upgrades to the Women’s Center will modernize the OB emergency department, labor and delivery operating rooms, waiting areas, and support spaces. These improvements aim to enhance the patient experience for expectant mothers and their families while supporting the hospital’s commitment to providing high-quality care.

Texas Health Resources is investing more than $8 million toward the project, with additional community fundraising underway. The Breast Center renovation is expected to be complete in early 2025, with Women’s Center improvements beginning in spring 2025 and finishing in early 2026.

The Arlington Tomorrow Foundation’s grant also secures naming rights for the Breast Center, reflecting the Foundation’s commitment to supporting high-quality health care in Arlington.
