Health Inspections: Does Your Favorite Arlington Eatery Make the Grade

Is your favorite restaurant making the grade when it comes to cleanliness and food safety? Whether you’re ordering burgers, birria or bibimbap, you can check the City of Arlington’s Food Establishments inspection scores webpage – or look for a posted inspection score - to see how well your dining spot fared on its latest health inspection.

The City of Arlington’s health services team inspects a range of permitted food and beverage establishments throughout the year. Establishments start with a score of 100. Points are then deducted based on health violations found by inspectors. Anything above a 70 is considered passing.

Since November 2023, the City has also provided a printable certificate featuring a letter grade – A, B, C, or F – along with the inspection report to help establishments more easily and transparently communicate their health inspection scores with patrons. Letter grades are A for a score of 91 to 100, B for scores of 81 to 90, C for scores of 71 to 80. Any score below a 70 receives a letter grade F designation.

All food and beverage permit holders are required to post their most recent health inspection or a sign letting patrons know how to review the most recent health inspection upon request.

Arlington conducts approximately 1,700 inspections for restaurants, which are inspected twice a year, and approximately 2,200 annual inspections for other types of establishments, including bars, school and hospital kitchens, concession stands, convenience stores, grocery stores meat and seafood counters, bakeries and more.
