Arlington Water's Davis Pressure Plane Project Near Completion

City contractors working on the Arlington Water Utilities Davis Pressure Plane Expansion expect the intersection of Fielder Road and Arkansas Lane to fully re-open by the beginning of November.

The City of Arlington appreciates residents drivers’ patience while the water and sewer system improvements have been ongoing. The Davis Pressure Plane Expansion Phase II expands the upper pressure plane of the city’s water distribution system into the area generally bounded by Cooper Street, Fielder Road, Arkansas Lane and Sanford Street. When completed, these improvements will increase the water pressure in this area.

After concrete work is finished and the Arkansas/Fielder intersection fully re-opens, some intermittent lane closures will be needed to protect workers as they install sod in medians and parkways and repaint lane markers. Some intermittent closures will also be needed for a mill and overlay road improvement project planned by the Arlington Department of Public Works, which will begin soon after the water project is finished and is expected to improve road quality greatly.

Davis Pressure Plane Phase 2 improvements have included:

• Approximately 7,500 linear feet of new 16-inch water mains;
• Replacement of approximately 1,600 linear feet of 6-inch to 12-inch water mains;
• Replacement of 2,700 linear feet of 8-inch sanitary sewer mains;

In January 2022, the Arlington City Council approved a $7,166,210 contract for the project between the City and Flow-Line Construction, Inc., of Dallas. The MWBE (Minority & Woman Business Enterprise) participation in the project is about 82% of the project funding, or about $5.9 million.
