Arlington Cooling Station Information for Homeless Individuals

In high summer temperatures, the Arlington Life Shelter and The Salvation Army both serve as cooling stations for homeless individuals in Arlington. Individuals in need of a break from the heat can also visit any Arlington Public Library location during normal operating hours to cool off. All library locations offer seating and water fountains.

Arlington Public Library Locations

George W. Hawkes Downtown Library

  • 100 S. Center St., Arlington, TX 76010
  • Monday - Thursday: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Friday & Saturday: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Sunday: 2 p.m to 6 p.m.

Arlington Library locations listed below have the following hours of operation:

  • Monday - Thursday: 10 a.m. to 8: p.m.
  • Friday & Saturday: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Sunday: 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. (East Library and Recreation Center Only)

  • Cooling Station Timeframe:
  • Monday - Friday Noon to 6 p.m.
  • Operating Guidelines: Indoor accommodations for up to three guests at a time in 30-minute increments. Exceptions can be made for families. Water is provided.

Arlington Life Shelter

  • 325 W. Division St., Arlington, TX 76011
  • Cooling Station Timeframe
  • Monday - Friday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Operating Guidelines: Location will serve as outdoor hydration station for those in need of water.

The Arlington Animal Services Shelter (accepts pets of homeless individuals as capacity allows). The shelter is located at 1000 SE Green Oaks Blvd. The phone number is 817-459-5898.
