Night sky with lots of stars

Look beyond the sky and see how the stars shine big and bright at the Friends of O.S. Gray Natural Area’s annual Star Party this month.

This free community event is set from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, 2024, at O.S. Gray Natural Area, located at 2021 W. Abram St. The park’s parking lot will be closed during the event, so look for on-street parking or park at a nearby business, event organizers say.

Astronomers from the Fort Worth Astronomical Society will provide telescopes to better see all that is shining that night.

There will also be storytelling to go along with hot dogs and roasted marshmallows for all to enjoy, said Kevin Donovan with the Friends of the O.S. Gray Natural Area.

"We encourage people to bring their telescopes as the astronomers are very happy to share their expertise," Donovan said.

The event welcomes people of all ages and is a great way to enjoy the park, Donovan said. Participants are encouraged to bring a blanket or a chair for seating.

Come out, bring your family and friends, to look at constellations and maybe catch a glimpse of a planet. For more information, visit the Friends of the O.S. Gray Natural Area Facebook page.
