2024 Labor Day Closings and City Service Schedules in Arlington

Many City of Arlington municipal offices and facilities will be closed Monday, Sept. 2, 2024, in observance of Labor Day.

Residential and commercial garbage and recycling pick up will not occur on Monday, Sept. 2 because of the Labor Day holiday. The Arlington Landfill is also closed on Sept. 2. All residents will have their garbage and recycling curbside collection shifted by one day because of the holiday.

Here is the temporary residential garbage and recycling collection schedule change for Sept. 2-7:

• Monday collection moves to Tuesday
• Tuesday collection moves to Wednesday
• Wednesday collection moves to Thursday
• Thursday collection moves to Friday
• Friday collection moves to Saturday.

Commercial garbage and recycling collection will resume on their normal schedule on Tuesday, Sept. 3. Residential garbage and recycling collections will resume on their normal schedules on Monday, Sept. 9.

Regular office hours and service schedules for some facilities will resume at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3.

• Elzie Odom Athletic Center, 8 a.m. to noon
• Dottie Lynn Recreation Center, 8 a.m. to noon
• Cliff Nelson Recreation Center, 8 a.m. to noon
• East Library and Recreation Center and indoor pool (8 a.m. to 2 p.m.)
• Beacon Recreation Center, noon to 4 p.m.
• Arlington Tennis Center, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
• Arlington On-Demand Rideshare public transportation

Holiday Garbage and Recycling Schedule: Garbage and recycling will not be picked up New Year’s Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas.
