Arlington Voters Approve $278M Bond, Re-elect Mayor and Council Member

Mayor: Incumbent Jim Ross was re-elected as the Mayor with 51.85% of the vote, according to unofficial vote totals. Amy Cearnal received 48.15% of the vote.

District 3: Incumbent Nikkie Hunter was re-elected as the District 3 City Council representative with 58.31% of the vote, according to unofficial vote totals. Marvin Sutton received 41.69% of the vote.

District 4: Incumbent Andrew Piel was re-elected as the District 4 City Council representative with 77.43% of the vote, according to unofficial vote totals. Chris “Dobi” Dobson received 22.57% of the vote.

District 5: Incumbent Rebecca Boxall was re-elected as the District 5 City Council representative. She ran uncontested.

District 8: Incumbent Barbara Odom-Wesley was re-elected as the At-Large District 8 City Council representative with 59.94% of the vote, according to unofficial vote totals. David Mosby received 40.06% of the vote.

Bond Election

Arlington voters approved all five propositions in the 2023 Bond Election.

Proposition A, which called for $219,460,000 for street improvements, was approved with 68.89% of the vote, according to unofficial vote totals.

Proposition B, which called for $24,645,000 for parks and recreation, was approved with 63.02% of the vote, according to unofficial vote totals.

Proposition C, which called for $30,080,000 for public safety facilities, was approved with 70.68% of the vote, according to unofficial vote totals.

Proposition D, which called for $3 million for Downtown administrative buildings, was approved with 50.03% of the vote, according to unofficial vote totals.

Proposition E, which called for $1.1 million for libraries, was approved with 63.91% of the vote, according to unofficial vote totals.

Canvassing for the City of Arlington is scheduled for Tuesday, May 16.
