The Arlington Police Department was notified that a man who was critically injured in a crash that occurred on Saturday, March 4, 2023 died from his injuries.

At approximately 2:57am Saturday, officers responded to the westbound lanes of I-20 near Center Street to investigate a three-vehicle wreck. Investigators determined the driver of a 1997 GMC Yukon rear-ended a 2003 Toyota Avalon. The impact caused the Yukon to hit the concrete median, then roll on its side. A 2020 GMC Sierra was traveling behind the two vehicles and could not avoid the wreck, resulting in the Sierra hitting the Yukon.

The driver of the Yukon, who investigators have been unable to identify, was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased from his injuries. He was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The drivers of the Sierra and Avalon were also transported to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries. Officers learned the driver of the Avalon had multiple outstanding warrants. Once he was cleared by medical staff, he was taken into custody on those warrants.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the deceased once they’re able to positively identify him and next of kin have been notified.
