Jump Into July with Fun Events from Arlington Parks & Recreation

Summer is heating up and we’re ready to celebrate with fun activities throughout July! Mark your calendar for these upcoming events with Arlington Parks and Recreation.
Light Up Arlington – Monday, July 3
Celebrate Independence Day in Downtown Arlington with live music, kid-friendly activities, food trucks, and a spectacular firework display on Monday, July 3! Arlington Parks and Recreation will host the 15th annual Light Up Arlington event, which will encompass 64 acres surrounding City Hall and the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library. At least 20 food trucks will be in the Downtown Arlington area, along with some of DFW’s top musical acts performing at various stages. Festivities will begin at 6 PM and are free and open to the public. Fireworks are scheduled to begin at 9:50 PM.
Independence Day Party (50+ yrs) – Wednesday, July 5
Seniors, let’s celebrate Independence Day with some good old-fashioned ice cream floats and a fun game of bingo! Join us in the Senior Hall at East Library and Recreation Center from 12:30 – 2 PM where we will have prizes for the bingo winners and delicious floats for everyone to celebrate the 4th of July. Registration required. Please call 817-275-1351 to sign up.
Splash & Dash Junior Triathlon – Saturday, July 8
Join us for the First Annual East Splash & Dash Junior Triathlon! Athletes will swim laps in our indoor pool before heading outside to bike and run around Bob Cooke Park. Distances will be determined by age. Participants should bring their own bicycle, towel, or any other desired equipment. Price includes event registration, finisher’s medal, and post-race snacks.

Veldhuizen Cheese Making Tour – Thursday, July 13
Come meet the Veldhuizen Cheese Team and enjoy a behind-the-scenes cheese making tour on their farm just outside of Dublin, Texas! Guides will talk all things Veldhuizen Cheese as we explore the farm. They will also walk you through the cheese making process and the history behind their products. We will stop by Cotton Patch Cafe on the way there for an early lunch. This adult day trip will depart from East Library and Recreation Center at 8 AM.

Play it! Station Mini Camp – Monday, July 17 – Friday, July 21
Calling all gamers! Do you love to play games of all kinds? Join us at Dottie Lynn Recreation Center for a mini camp where we will enjoy tons of friendly competition through video games, board games, card games, and more. This mini camp is specially designed with your hobby in mind, so get ready to play all day as we enjoy the summer break.
