If you or a loved one cannot physically visit the library, Books on Wheels program can help you keep your mind stimulated and help to alleviate the isolation issue in the lives of participating by providing regular "friendly visits" and library materials.
The Books on Wheels is a free outreach service to our community’s most isolated residents. Every Books on Wheels visit is a chance for participants to have access to library books and socialize with library volunteers and/or staff.
This service is available at select senior housing facilities within Arlington city limits. Volunteers or library staff deliver library materials to participants to borrow. Individuals have the choice to request items or have items selected for them.
Books on Wheels visits happen monthly. Current Participating Retirement Centers: • Brookdale at Pecan Park Senior Living • The Claremont Independent Senior Living Community • Fox Run Estates • Texas Masonic Retirement Center
Reading or listening to books for recreation and information is therapeutic for seniors because it can engage and stimulate the mind, evoke pleasant memories, and introduce new ideas for discussion with others. Invest a couple of hours twice a month to make a real difference in someone’s life!
