On Thursday, July 20, 2023, at approximately 10:27 p.m., the Arlington Police Department responded to the 1400 block of N. Fielder Road to investigate a collision between a pedestrian and two vehicles.

Investigators believe a 72-year-old man was attempting to cross Fielder Road when he was struck by a 2006 Pontiac G10. The impact caused the man to go airborne and land in the left lane of traffic. Moments later, a 2016 Honda Civic ran over him.

The man was pronounced deceased at the scene.  He was not using a crosswalk at the time.

The drivers of both vehicles immediately stopped, called 911, and cooperated with the investigation. No criminal charges have been filed at this time. The investigation is ongoing.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the deceased once next of kin have been notified.

The Arlington Police Department reminds the public that pedestrians should always use traffic lights and designated crosswalks when crossing roadways. Cutting across a roadway is dangerous at all times of the day, but particularly when it’s dark outside and visibility is reduced.
