On Sunday, January 8, 2023, at approximately 2:03 a.m., the Arlington Police Department responded to a two-vehicle crash in the eastbound lanes of I-20 near Collins Street. When officers arrived on scene, they found a 2014 Ford F-150 on its side leaning against the center median.
A 62-year-old woman, who investigators later learned was the driver of the F-150, had been ejected from the pickup and was lying unresponsive in the median. She was pronounced deceased at the scene. A 47-year-old male passenger in the pickup was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.
Witnesses told officers the Ford F-150 was traveling at a high rate of speed and weaving in and out of lanes when it sideswiped a 2012 Dodge Ram 1500. The impact caused the F-150 to spin into the center median, then roll multiple times before coming to a stop on its side.
There were two people in the Dodge Ram. Neither was seriously injured. The driver of the Dodge Ram is not facing any criminal charges.
Investigators have not ruled out the possibility that alcohol may be a factor in the crash. The driver and passenger of the F-150 were not wearing their seatbelts at the time of the wreck.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s will identify the deceased once next of kin have been notified.
