On Monday, January 9, 2023, at approximately 7:22 p.m., the Arlington Police Department responded to a collision between a car and a pedestrian in the 900 block of W. Pioneer Parkway.
When officers arrived on scene, they found the pedestrian, a 67-year-old man, lying unresponsive on the side of the road. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Investigators determined the man was attempting to cross Pioneer Parkway when he was struck by a 2007 Infiniti G35 that was traveling westbound. He was not using a designated crosswalk at the time.
The driver of the Infiniti stopped at the scene and was cooperative with investigators. He is not facing any criminal charges in connection to this incident.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the deceased once next of kin have been notified.
The Arlington Police Department reminds the public that pedestrians should always use traffic lights and designated crosswalks when crossing roadways. Cutting across a roadway is dangerous at all times of the day, but particularly when it’s dark outside and visibility is reduced.
