On Friday, February 24, 2023, at approximately 7:09 a.m., the Arlington Police Department responded to the southbound lanes of Highway 287 near Little Road to investigate a single-vehicle rollover.

According to witnesses, a Subaru Outback was traveling in the left lane when it suddenly veered across the other southbound lanes, went off the roadway, and struck a metal sign, causing the vehicle to roll.

The driver of the Outback, a 34-year-old man, was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extricated by first responders. He was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased from his injuries. During the course of the investigation, we learned he was an employee of the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office.

There was no one else inside the Outback and no other vehicles were involved.

It’s unclear what caused the driver to go off the road. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine an official cause and manner of death.

The Arlington Police Department sends its heartfelt condolences to the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office, as well as the employee’s family and friends.
