Arlington Eats: Divalicious Delights Serve Grandma’s Custom Treats

On this episode of Arlington Eats, host Jeremy Thomas takes us inside Divalicious Delights Bakery, where you can taste sweets just like grandma used to make. 

“Divalicious Delights Bakery started in my heart as a child because I loved to bake,” said owner Roshale Thompson. “Eventually I became a hobby baker. I was a baker by night and educator by day.” 

Thompson was an educator for more than two decades, but once the pandemic struck, her home baking orders skyrocketed. 

“I had to really think about it,” she said. “And I said, ‘one day, when I finish and I just retire from education, I’m going to become a bakery owner.’ But it just came quicker.” 

Her family-owned business opened a storefront off S Cooper St in Arlington September 2021. 

“We do in the back a lot of custom cakes for events such as weddings, baby showers, birthdays, corporate events whatever custom design you want,” Thompson said. “We’ll do your whole dessert table: the sweet treats and as well as the cake." 

That includes holidays, like Valentine’s Day. If you need a last-minute treat for your loved one or just in the mood for some sweets, check out what they bake daily from their display.  

“Get your scratch-baked peach cobblers, banana puddings and grandma’s cookies. We have chocolate dipped sweet dips, as well.” 

As an Arlington Bowie and UT Arlington grad, a former Arlington ISD educator and now a business owner in town, she loves to support her community right here in The American Dream City. 

“I’m thinking about putting together an academy for aspiring bakers this summer,” she said. So, it gives me that whole education aspect, and I can integrate math and science into the young leaners. Just the outpour and the love for the people who have been in my life and this community to come and support me means everything.”
