Arlington Water Utilities recently completed a project that will improve sanitary sewer service in central Arlington, near the intersection of Matlock Road and West Mayfield Road.

Earlier this year, the Arlington City Council approved a $1,262,903 construction contract with Gra-Tex Utilities, Inc., of Kennedale, for the Matlock (Mayfield to Central Park) Sanitary Sewer Improvements project. Approximately 1,510 linear feet of 8-inch sanitary sewer main in Matlock Road from West Mayfield Road to Central Park Drive was replaced as part of the project.

Once the sanitary sewer infrastructure improvements were completed, concrete pavement panels affected during construction were replaced. Arlington Water would like to thank residents for their patience during lane closures required for this work.

The sanitary sewer mains replaced were in poor condition, which could have resulted in sanitary sewer overflows. The improvements will extend the life of public sewer mains, reduce maintenance costs, and improve service.
