Many City of Arlington municipal offices and facilities will be closed or have reduced hours between Sunday, Dec. 31, 2023, and Monday, Jan. 1, 2024, in observance of New Year’s Day. Regular office hours and service schedules will resume Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2024.
Residential garbage or recycling collection will not occur on New Year’s Day, Jan. 1. Collection will resume on the following regular collection day. During the week of Jan. 1, Republic Services will temporarily suspend the collection of brush, bulk items, and bagged leaves because the volume of trash usually spikes after the holiday. Crews will only collect bagged trash so that residents do not experience service delays. Normal collection services will resume the week of Jan. 8.
Special note: Residents whose recycling was not picked up on Monday, Dec. 25 because of the Christmas holiday can place their recycling carts out on Saturday, Dec. 30 for collection.
