About the Budget

The proposed budget for the next fiscal year includes a recommendation for a property tax rate reduction for the eighth year in a row, and increases for residents’ water rates, the garbage collection rate and storm water fee.

The Council will vote on the budget in September after a series of public meetings. The fiscal year begins Oct. 1.

The City Council will also schedule a public hearing during its 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5 meeting on the proposed budget and whether to reduce Arlington's property tax rate from $0.5998 cents per $100 of assessed value to $0.5898 per $100 of assessed value.

The proposed budget and business plan is built around supporting the City Council's six priorities: Champion Great Neighborhoods, Support Youth and Families, Invest in Our Economy, Enhance Regional Mobility, Leverage Technology and Build Unity.
