For a 10th year, the City of Arlington is being recognized as a high-volume court with exemplary programs and events to improve roadway safety for drivers, passengers, cyclists, and pedestrians of all ages. The award is presented by the Texas Municipal Courts Education Center and funded by a grant from the Texas Department of Transportation.

Highlights from 2023 include a mock trial and impaired driving presentation for more than 30 teens hosted at the Municipal Court. The City was also recognized for participating at events all year long to encourage traffic safety and to distribute materials covering the proper use of seatbelts and child safety seats, pedestrian safety, underage drinking, and impairment from substance abuse. Arlington DWI Officer Stacie Brown made 118 presentations on impaired and distracted driving to teens and adults. Other officers worked to provide and install child safety seats, to inspect and enforce commercial motor vehicle regulations, and to monitor the roadways for aggressive driving with Operation Freeway Safety, SAFE (Strategy Against Fatality Events) and the Road Rage Hotline.
