On Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at approximately 6:29 p.m., the Arlington Police Department responded to the intersection of SE Green Oaks Boulevard and New York Avenue to investigate a collision between an SUV and a pedestrian in a motorized wheelchair.

Investigators believe a 2015 Ford Explorer traveling southbound along New York Ave struck a 66-year-old woman who was attempting to cross the street at the intersection. According to witnesses, southbound traffic along New York Ave had a green light at the time and had already started moving through the intersection when the woman in the wheelchair entered the crosswalk.

The woman was transported to a local hospital where she was later pronounced deceased from her injuries.

The driver of the Explorer stayed at the scene and was cooperative with investigators. She is not facing any criminal charges in connection to this incident.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the deceased once next of kin have been notified.
