City Completes Road Improvements on Five East Arlington Streets

The Public Works Department is pleased to announce that after 10 months of work, major construction to rebuild portions of five residential streets in East Arlington has been completed. Since August 2021, contractors had been working on roadway and other infrastructure improvements on the following streets:

• Brookshire Street (from Carter Drive to Greenway Street)
• Catalo Lane (from Carter Drive to SH360)
• Hensley Street (from S. Collins Street to Moore Terrace)
• Randolph Street (from Sunnyvale Drive to Lackland Street)
• Stonegate Street (from Carter Drive to Buena Vista Drive)

This project was part of the City’s program to rebuild residential streets throughout the city that have deteriorated beyond general maintenance and included the following improvements:

• Rebuilding the asphalt roadway with 2,917 cubic yards of concrete to create a surface with an expected useful life of 50 years
• Construction of 6,118 linear feet of sidewalks with 24 ADA compliant ramps
• Rebuilding 122 driveway approaches
• Installation of 70 linear feet of stormwater drainage infrastructure improvements
• Construction of 3,653 linear feet of sanitary sewer improvements
• Construction of 1,722 linear feet of water line improvements
• Streetlight improvements

Funding for this project was approved by Arlington voters as part of the $137M Street Improvements package included in the 2018 Bond Election. This project aligns with the City Council’s priorities to Enhance Regional Mobility and Champion Great Neighborhoods.
