Library’s Black History Month Events Includes Storytime, Festival and More
The Arlington Public Library is commemorating Black History Month with a series of programs that celebrate the history and culture of African Americans. Programs are available for all ages, including community talks, book talks, exploration of STEM careers, genealogy research, family storytime and the annual Black History Month Festival.
Hear the Buzz on Texas’ Native Bee Population
Did you know Texas is home to approximately 700 native bee species? It is, and those bees which help create and maintain our diverse ecosystem and are vital to our food supply.
If you want to learn more about native bees that call Arlington and the Lone Star State home, the City’s Stormwater Education Specialist will host a community presentation from 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. Feb. 23 at the Southeast Branch Library, 900 SE Green Oaks Blvd.
Learn Valuable Home Repair, Garden and Sustainability Tips
This spring, Arlington Water Utilities, in partnership with Tarrant Regional Water District and Arlington Public Libraries, will host a variety of informative and fun events. Those include DIY home plumbing and sprinkler repairs, sustainable landscaping, adopt a plant and small changes residents can make in their home habits that can have a big impact on the Earth.
Get Free Tax Preparation Help
Need help preparing your income taxes? You have options!
The Arlington Public Library has partnered with AARP to offer free tax preparation assistance. Tax-Aide will be available at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library and the Southwest Branch Library starting through Tax Day, April 18, 2022.
Additionally, the City of Arlington is once again offering Volunteer Income Tax Assistance, which provides qualifying individuals whose individual or household income is less than $60,000 annually with free quality tax preparation assistance from IRS-certifiedvolunteers. VITA helps taxpayers claim valuable tax credits to ensure they are maximizing their full refund potential. This can include the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and Child Tax Credit (CTC).
