On this episode of Arlington Eats, host Jeremy Thomas takes you to LuluPops by Lina, they are serving up holiday smiles with special treats.

“I was doing it as a hobby, co-owner Lina Elthwil said. “I just thought, ‘hey, I’ll have fun and make some cake pops for my kids and then for my dad’s birthday.”

But little did Elthwil know.. her custom-styled, handmade sweets she’d post on social media back in 2013, would turn into a full-time business opening a bakery in Southwest Arlington in 2016. The most popular item, the cake pops in an assortment of flavors.

“We bake a cake,” Elthwil explained. “We crumble it and add a little bit of frosting. We hand roll them and dip them in chocolate. We decorate them with either a drizzle, sprinkles or if it’s custom, they get shaped and embellished.”

There’s more to satisfy your sweet tooth.

“French macarons are super popular,” she said. “We make cinnamon rolls. We do custom work. Custom letter cakes, dipped Oreos, dipped pretzels and bars.”

You can even see new delicacies every holiday season including Christmas treat boxes.

“We do a couple of cake pops, a sugar cookie, dipped pretzels in a Christmas Holiday Tin,” she said. “Those are super popular.”

Elthwil, an Arlington native, says the success of the business comes down to her co-owner, employees and customers right here in The American Dream City.

“It was really important for me to still be part of this community and contribute to Arlington. I love this City so I wanted to stay here. Just to see the support of the community and the support of my team means the world to me. It means all the effort that I’ve put in is paying off.”

LuluPops by Lina is located at 3851 SW Green Oaks Blvd Ste #103 in Arlington. For operating hours and more information about the business, visit the bakery’s Facebook page
