On the next great adventure of Explore Arlington, Mayor Jim Ross puts on his chef’s hat, serving up holiday treats with culinary arts students at Arlington ISD’s Dan Dipert Career + Technical Center.

The Center provides numerous career pathways for students, including Hospitality and Tourism. Culinary Arts is one of the programs of study offered under the Hospitality and Tourism Career Cluster. It focuses on the management, marketing, and operations of restaurants and other food/beverage services, lodging, attractions, recreation events, and travel-related services. Students acquire knowledge and skills focusing on communication, time management, and customer service that meet industry standards. Students explore the history of the hospitality and tourism industry and examine characteristics needed for success.

During holiday seasons, culinary arts students create themed desserts and meals for fundraisers or provide to members of the community for free.

"The Culinary Arts program out here is second to none,” Ross said. "They have a cake club that goes all year. They make some of the best food out here!”
