Tom Ware

Represents the portion of the city bounded primarily by I-20 on the south, portions of Matlock Road, Fielder Road, and Bowen Road on the east, Lake Arlington on the west, and I-30 on the northeast. District 4 includes The Parks at Arlington Mall, a portion of the I-20 business corridor, and the training facilities for the Police and Fire departments.

Tom, Suzy and their two children moved to Arlington District 4 in 1978. They are still in the same home after all these years. Their son, Randall, is an architect in Austin and has a son and granddaughter in the San Marcos area. Their daughter, Wendy, is married with two daughters and still in Arlington. They are successful graduates of the AISD, Texas Tech and Texas A&M.

Tom and Suzy were entrepreneurs having built and sold several businesses. They retired about ten years ago. Tom has always volunteered and is a past president of both the Arlington Optimist Club and The Rotary Club of Arlington and currently sits on both club’s foundations. Tom has also served on several business boards – The Craft & Hobby Association, Mr Handyman Franchise Advisory Committee & President’s Circle and the Arlington Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors.

District 4 is the ”West District” with its west edge on the border of Arlington from I-30 on the north and generally I-20 on the south. There is a “tail” that runs south along Hwy 287 to Sublett Rd. The east border runs north along Matlock to Pioneer Pkwy, west to Bowen and generally north through the middle of Randol Mill Park to I-30. The Arlington Police working District 4 say “West is Best!” and Tom agrees and wants to keep it that way.

Tom has served on several city committees and for the last five years (2021-2026) has served on the Planning & Zoning Commission where he gathered knowledge of Arlington governance, and experience to run for city council.
