Heartfullness Ribbon Cutting

The City of Arlington will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony this week to celebrate its newest public art, a steel sculpture of a mended heart by artist Katy Boynton named “Heartfullness.”

The community is invited to the event, which will be held in Dr. Robert Cluck Linear Park near AT&T Stadium from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, 2026. “Heartfullness” joins a growing list of public art sculptures located throughout the Arlington’s vibrant Entertainment District. The artwork was chosen by a committee of local art enthusiasts with input from city leaders and is funded by the City’s Convention and Events Services Fund, which is largely funded by hotel occupancy fees paid by visitors.

“Public art plays an important role in Arlington. It helps transform everyday places into meaningful experiences. It creates moments of connection. And it tells our story in ways that words alone cannot,” said Gary Packan, director of Arlington’s Parks, Recreation & Culture Department. “’Heartfullness’ is a beautiful example of that — a piece that reflects creativity, warmth, and community pride right in the heart of the most visited area of our city.”

“Heartfullness,” which stands 12 foot tall and 16 feet wide, debuted at Burning Man 2012. Boynton said her steel sculpture of a mended heart embodies the strength of the human spirit.

“Every experience, every scar, tells a story of resilience and the enduring power of love. By embracing these experiences, we allow our hearts to heal and grow. At night the heart glows with a warm inner light, symbolizing the unyielding fire within us all. The cracks and imperfections transform into pathways for this radiant light to project outward. Just as the heart becomes a beacon of light, so too do we, when we embrace adversity and allow our own inner light to truly shine,” Boynton said in her description of “Heartfullness.”

Before finding its permanent home along Johnson Creek in Arlington, “Heartfullness” was a featured art piece at Life is Beautiful Festival in Las Vegas, BottleRock Festival and Lighted Art Festival in Napa, Ghostship Halloween and Sunset Island Electronic Picnic in San Francisco.
