Neighborhood Block Parties & The Block Party Trailer

The Block Party Trailer is a City of Arlington neighborhood resource designed to engage communities and build personal connections through hosted gatherings.

Reserve the Block Party Trailer with a street closure or as a stand-alone request. Then get ready for a fun-filled, neighborly event!

Program Details

  • Who Can Reserve: Neighborhood associations, churches, schools, and non-profits within Arlington.
  • Availability: Reservations are first-come, first-served and can be made twice per year per neighborhood or organization, plus National Night Out.
  • Use: Block parties – including use of the trailer – are permitted for up to 8 hours, running no later than 10 p.m.
  • Cost: Use of the Block Party Trailer is free, though liability insurance is recommended (or a waiver must be signed).
  • Contents: The trailer comes stocked with tables, chairs, coolers, and games. You and your neighbors bring all the fun!
  • Delivery: City crews provide free delivery and pick-up the day before your event and the first business day after your event.
  • Prohibited: Sales, entry fees, races/parades, and professional amplified sound (DJs/bands).

Block Party Trailer Reservation

  1. Check Availability: Email blockparty@arlingtontx.gov to verify the trailer is available on your event date.
  2. Apply: Submit an online application through the City of Arlington website at least 10 days before your event.
  3. Required Documents: You must upload a map showing the trailer delivery location and proof of insurance or a signed waiver.
  4. Reservation Approval: After your reservation is processed, we’ll email your Block Party Trailer approval permit. We’ll also include a checklist with all the trailer contents (tables, chairs, games, etc.) to help you plan your gathering.
  5. Trailer Orientation: City staff will schedule a required orientation session on the day the trailer is delivered and get the required applicant signature.
  6. Delivery & Pick-up: City staff will drop off the trailer the day before your event and pick it up the following business day.

Residential Street Closure Request

  1. Apply: If you need to close a street for your party, request your Residential Street Closure in the online application.
  2. Required Documents:
  • Include a map showing the location of the proposed street closure.
  • Provide a roster of signatures from homeowners affected by the street closure:
  • Minimum 75% approval signatures for closures under 1/2 mile
  • Minimum 50% approval signatures for closures over 1/2 mile
  1. Reservation Approval: After your request is processed, we’ll email your approval permit.
  2. Delivery & Pick-Up: City Crews will deliver street barricades to the location of the street closure on the day of your event (or the day before, if your event is on the weekend). Barricades will be picked up on the following business day. If you reserved the Block Party Trailer with a street closure, your barricades are included in the trailer contents. Place them at the locations indicated on the approved street closure map.

    To finalize your application, you can access the following required documents directly in the online application.

    Waiver of Liability Insurance: Required if you do not provide your own liability insurance coverage.
    Roster of Affected Homeowners: Required for street closure requests to collect neighbor signatures in support of the street closure.

Other Temporary Outdoor Or Special Event Permits

If your event is beyond the scope of the Residential Street Closure, it may require an additional permit.
