This project involves the construction of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant sidewalks and pedestrian curb ramps along both sides of Brown Boulevard from North Collins Street to Hidden Ridge Drive. Additionally, the project includes the removal and replacement of an existing drainage box culvert headwall located on the north side of Brown Boulevard between Summer Creek Circle and Summer Creek Lake. These improvements are intended to enhance pedestrian connectivity, safety, and accessibility along the project corridor. The installation of ADA-compliant ramps and continuous sidewalks will improve compliance with federal accessibility standards while supporting the City’s broader pedestrian mobility, and walkability initiatives.
The project also includes asphalt milling and overlaying and miscellaneous concrete repairs on Brown Boulevard. The asphalt milling and overlay process removes two inches of existing asphalt pavement, repairs road base failures, and resurfaces the roadway with a new two-inch asphalt surface course. Miscellaneous concrete repairs include removal and replacement of dilapidated curb and gutter and driveway approaches.
Funding for this project was included in the voter-approved 2018 Bond Election. Funding sources are the Street Bond Fund and the Street Maintenance Sales Tax Fund. This project aligns with the Council Priorities to Enhance Mobility.
