Lady Movin" Mavs Rose Hollermann and Abby Dunkin, seniors and gold medalists in the 2016 Paralympic games, along with graduate student Morgan Wood, are set to represent Team USA in the 2018 International Wheelchair Basketball Federation"s World Championships in Hamburg, Germany August 16-26.

The University of Texas at Arlington"s Lady Movin" Mavs wheelchair basketball team continues its dominance in the sport, claiming its second national championship in three years at the 2018 National Intercollegiate Wheelchair Basketball Tournament with a 20-0 record. For Rose Hollermann and her teammates, the program has been a dream come true.

"I"m living my American Dream through UTA, the Lady Movin" Mavs and USA Basketball by having a community in place where I can do the thing I love every day," Hollermann said."I can come in and play basketball with the people I love and I can also make myself a better person."

The dream began when Morgan Wood arrived at UT Arlington as the first female athlete to form the Lady Movin" Mavs program in 2013. UTA started with just five players, but eventually became the first university in the nation to offer full-ride scholarships for athletes in adapted sports.

"Going from last place and having no funding to just this year becoming a fully funded team separate of the men, it"s a dream come," Wood said."We wouldn"t be where we are now without the City of Arlington."

You can find a complete schedule for the 2018 World Wheelchair Basketball Championships on the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation"s website. 16 men"s teams and 12 women"s teams will compete at the edel-optics.de Arena in Hamburg, Germany for the title of World Champions.
