Arlington Library's Black History Month Festival

Celebrate African-American history and culture with the Arlington Public Library this weekend. The library's 5th Black History Month Festival is scheduled from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 21, 2016 at the Southeast Branch Library, 900 Southeast Green Oaks Blvd. The afternoon will include exhibits, musical and dance performances, lectures, film, crafts, and more. This year's program will kick off with a showing of excerpts from the documentary film Freedom Summer from the series Created Equal: America's Civil Rights Struggle. A community discussion led by Tarrant County College Southeast Campus' Ruthann Geer will follow the film.

2016 Monster Energy AMA Supercross

After last week's Monster Jam in The American Dream City, racing fans have another adrenaline-fueled event to look forward to this weekend! Monster Energy AMA Supercross returns to AT&T Stadium in Arlington on Saturday, February 20, 2016 for a indoor dirt bike racing show that should provide plenty of fun and excitement the whole family can enjoy. Tickets are on sale now at and the event gets underway at 6:30 p.m. CT.

Symphony Arlington presents: Sara Daneshpour

This season, Symphony Arlington is exploring masterpieces inspired by visions of riches. On Thursday, February 18, 2016 at Arlington Music Hall, Symphony Arlington presents pianist Sara Daneshpour. Daneshpour is a 2013 Laureate of the ProLiance Energy Classical Fellowship Awards of the American Pianists Association. She has performed not only in her native city of Washington DC, but also in New York, Philadelphia, Cleveland, Russia, Germany, Finland, Estonia, Denmark, and Sweden. The performances begins at 7:30 p.m. and tickets are still available.

Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella at Theatre Arlington

The timeless enchantment of a magical fairy tale comes to life in this new adaptation of the Tony Award®-winning musical from the creators of South Pacific and The Sound of Music. This youth musical of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella opens at Theatre Arlington in Downtown on Friday, February 19, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. The show runs until March 6, 2016, with special performances March 22nd & 23rd at UT Arlington's Texas Hall (click here for more info). Performances at Theatre Arlington: Fridays at 7:30 pm; Saturdays at 2 pm & 7:30 pm; Sundays at 2 pm.

Modern Masters from the Guild Hall Collection

This exhibition will feature work by 60 artists including Andy Warhol, Robert Rauschenberg, Jackson Pollock, Roy Lichtenstein, Willem de Kooning, and Robert Motherwell. Modern art has brought a fresh and unconventional approach to the creative community, expressing the loves, hates, ideas, beliefs, interests, passions, strengths, and weaknesses of a generation emerging in the mid-Twentieth Century. This exhibit will explore traditional mediums of art, outside the box, and how the art world embraced the work that represents a movement that changed the face of fine art in America. Astronaut at UTA Planetarium

See what it takes to become an Astronaut and the effect space has on the human body this Sunday, February 21 at UTA Planetarium! Narrated by Ewan McGregor, experience a rocket launch from inside the body of an astronaut, explore the amazing worlds of inner and outer space, and discover the perils that lurk in space. This family-friendly show starts at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday. For more information on other shows happening at the UTA Planetarium and ticket prices, please visit their website.
