Arlington Water Utilities Announces 2019 Value of Water Coloring Contest Winners

 Judges from Tarrant Regional Water District, the Arlington Public Library, and River Legacy Living Science Center chose six prize winners, in pre-k through 4th grade.

More than 350 Arlington students in pre-kindergarten through 4th grade entered the Arlington Water Utilities 2019 Value of Water Coloring Contest this year. Whether it was for a fun swim, growing a garden, or firefighters putting out fires, students showed they understand how important water is in the world. Pre-k students completed pre-printed coloring sheets, while older children illustrated an answer to the sentence, "Because I have water, I can ...”

Judges from Tarrant Regional Water District, the Arlington Public Library, and River Legacy Living Science Center chose six prize winners, in pre-k through 4th grade. The winners will be recognized Nov. 5, at the Arlington City Council meeting.

The 2019 winners are:

• Pre-K - Mariyah (submitted at an Arlington Public Library)

• Kindergarten - Amelia - Adams Elementary (Arlington ISD)

• First Grade - Cayden - West Elementary (Arlington ISD)

• Second Grade - Hazel - Adams Elementary (Arlington ISD)

• Third Grade - Noah - West Elementary (Arlington ISD)

• Fourth Grade - Sophia - Adams Elementary (Arlington ISD)

The coloring contest is held annually to partner with a national event called, Imagine a Day Without Water, which falls on Oct. 23 this year. Other co-sponsors of the coloring competition are Tarrant Regional Water District's Water is Awesome campaign, River Legacy Living Science Center, and the Arlington Public Library.

All winners and their teachers will receive an Arlington Water Utilities tote bag with water-themed books and prizes, a water bottle, and passes to the Discovery Room at River Legacy Living Science Center.
