The annual sales tax holiday, which is a great time for parents to save money on clothing and school supplies, has been moved ahead a week by the Texas Legislature.

This year's event runs August 9-11.

During the tax-free weekend, shoppers catch a break from state and local sales taxes on most clothing, footwear, school supplies and backpacks priced under $100. For every $100 spent, shoppers can save up to $8.25.
