A holiday tradition returned Friday to the Senior Recreation Center on Eunice Street.

About 200 seniors gathered for the Mayor's Holiday Luncheon, which included barbecue, holiday music and fellowship with Arlington Mayor Robert Cluck.

The mayor, along with several city staffers, served and pampered invited guests, including former Mayor Elzie Odom, who started the holiday tradition while mayor from 1997 to 2003.

"We're more than happy to keep this going," Mayor Cluck said. "Each year, we look forward to letting our seniors know how much we appreciate them and wish them well this holiday season."

The seniors were entertained by the center's 21-piece ukulele band, which played holiday tunes, and received a send off by a popular barbershop-style quartet also made up of seniors. Live entertainment was also provided by the Arlington High School Chorale, which blew through several high-energy tunes that had some of the seniors on their feet.

The luncheon was organized by the Arlington Parks and Recreation Department in partnership with Spring Creek Barbecue.
