Black History Month: Music 'n Motion Storytime

Laugh, dance, listen, and sing! Enjoy this energetic storytime with your little one where we will explore music, rhymes, storytelling, fine-motor fingerplays and gross-motor movement. For ages 1-4. In honor of Black History Month, we will explore the music of Ella Jenkins, the First Lady of Children's Music.
Black History Month: Famous Black Heroes Scavenger Hunt

Come learn about history's famous black heroes in this fun scavenger hunt during Black History Month! This event is free and open to the public and will be available during open hours at the Southwest Branch.
Black History Month: Lego Free Play

Join us after school for fun, imagination, and creativity. In the month of February, we will be building inventions created by Black inventors.
Space is limited. First come, first served. Blocks must be returned when finished. This is a come and go program for ages 5-11.

Embroidery for Beginners: Black History Month Inspirational Patches

Learn the basics of the embroidery machine! Materials will be provided. This class is limited to the first 5 in attendance and is appropriate for ages 13+.
Black History Month: Celebrating Black Superheroes

Celebrate Black History Month by learning about the history of Black superheroes, participate in some comic book trivia and crafts, and talk about your favorite Black superheroes with other fans!
This program is for teens, ages 13-17, and will be held in the Young Adult Area of the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library.

Black History Month Artist Reception: An Evening of Art & Jazz

Enjoy a cultivated evening of culture by perusing a stunning artist gallery showcasing local Black artists. Live jazz, light bites, and beautiful artistry will fill the library during this night of class and elegance. Cocktail attire requested. Registration required. This is an adults-only program.
