Homicide Investigation - Report #2022-02380421

The Arlington Police Department has made an arrest in connection to the shooting death of Donald Hunt, which occurred on August 26, 2022 at an apartment complex in the 2100 block of Cypress Club Drive.
 
On Saturday, September 3, 2022, members of the U.S. Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force located 32-year-old Darius Brown in the 5000 block of Southpoint Drive and took him into custody without incident. He has been booked into the Arlington City Jail on one count of Murder.
 
Mr. Hunt was in a relationship with a relative of Mr. Brown. Investigators believe the two men got into an argument about that relative inside Mr. Hunt’s apartment, which then escalated into the shooting.

ORIGINAL RELEASE

 On Friday, August 26, 2022, at approximately 4 p.m., the Arlington Police Department responded to the 2100 block of Cypress Club Drive to investigate a shooting. Responding officers located a man with an apparent gunshot wound. The man was pronounced deceased at the scene. Investigators believe the victim and suspect are acquaintances. The suspect left the residence directly after the shooting and has been identified.

While the investigation of this incident is ongoing, no arrests have been made.

Tipsters can also remain anonymous by contacting Tarrant County Crime Stoppers at 817-469-TIPS and may be eligible for a cash reward for information related to the case.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the deceased once the next of kin have been notified.
