In our latest episode of Your Money in Action, learn more about the Public Works Department’s efforts to improve pedestrian facilities and mobility on Nathan Lowe Road and various street segments in Downtown Arlington.

The Arlington City Council approved a construction contract in March to construct continuous, ADA compliant pedestrian paths in the following locations:

  • Front Street (West Street to Mesquite Street)
  • Main Street (Mary Street to Jeffries Street)
  • Maple Canyon Court (cul-de-sac)
  • Nathan Lowe Road (S. Cooper Street to Petra Drive)
  • Pennsylvania Avenue (Manassas Drive to Vicksburg Drive)
  • South Street (College Street to Spruance Street)
  • West Street (Division Street to UTA Boulevard)

As of this month, the following work has been completed or is in progress:

  • Construction on Nathan Lowe Road in approximately 97% complete.
  •  Work on West and Front streets is in progress and is estimated to be completed by mid-September.
  •  Work is nearly complete on Main Street between Mary and Jeffries streets.

This project, which is funded by voter-approved Street Maintenance Sales Tax revenue, aligns with the City Council’s priorities to Champion Great Neighborhoods and Enhance Regional Mobility.
