The Neighborhood Leadership Network (NLN) is a working group for neighborhood leaders across the City of Arlington to build relationships with other neighborhood leaders, learn best practices for a variety of neighborhood issues, and develop a partnership with the City. The NLN is a resource for strengthening neighborhood leaders and providing resources that will empower Arlington neighborhoods to achieve neighborhood and community goals.

The Neighborhood Leadership Network meets quarterly to discuss pertinent neighborhood issues, and to learn about City initiatives affecting neighborhoods throughout Arlington. The members of the Neighborhood Leadership Network will also be included in an email listserv for neighborhood-related discussions throughout the year.

Neighborhood Leaders must be able to demonstrate an existing leadership role within their neighborhood organization by meeting 4 of the 8 criteria below:

  • My Neighborhood Group is formally organized into a (1) Homeowner’s Association, (2) Property Owner’s Association, (3) Non-Profit Organization, or a (4) Crime Watch
  • My Neighborhood Group is managed regularly by a (1) Volunteer Board of Directors or (2) Property Management Company
  • My Neighborhood meets regularly (more than once a year) to communicate information, issues, concerns, solutions
  • My Neighborhood Group hosts social events more than once a year for neighborhood fellowship
  • My Neighborhood Group has a digital/online presence, including a neighborhood website, Facebook Group or Page, or other type of online presence.
  • My Neighborhood Group has contact information for all (or most) households within the neighborhood and communicates regularly
  • My Neighborhood has a neighborhood action plan adopted by the City Council
  • I have a leadership role in my neighborhood group

Don’t meet the criteria? Don’t worry!

All NLN meetings are open to any Arlington neighbors who are interested in becoming more involved with their neighborhood. If you’re not sure where to start, City of Arlington Neighborhood Engagement Program staff will work with you and provide tools and resources to bring your neighborhood together!
