The City of Arlington was recognized by the Sunshine Review for transparency on its government website.

Sunshine Review editors rated Arlington's website an A+ and named it a 2012 Sunny Award winner. Editors reviewed content on the website and graded it on a 10-point transparency checklist that included items such as budgets, financial audits, public records, and contracts.

According to their website, Sunshine Review is a non-profit that collaborates with individuals and organizations across America to promote state and local transparency, engage citizens, and hold government officials accountable.

More than 6,000 government websites were reviewed and rated, with only 214 Sunny Awards given. Texas ranked second, behind Florida, for the most awards given, a total of 21. Burleson was the only other city in the state to receive an A+ grade.
