Join us Saturday, June 16 from noon to 2pm as we celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the opening of Allen Bolden Pool. A $1.50 admission fee, the original price when the pool first opened in 1987, will be honored all day during open hours from noon - 6pm.

From noon - 2pm, enjoy activities such as a water balloon toss, big splash contest, and 80s trivia contest along with giveaways and door prizes. A $1 hot dog and chips special will be available along with complimentary cake, popsicles and drinks. A brief ceremony at 12:15 pm will be held to celebrate the anniversary with members of the Bolden family, City Council, Park Board and past aquatics employees.

Located in Vandergriff Park, 2800 S. Center Street, the pool has served the community for years of aquatic fun. "Allen Bolden Pool has been a great facility to help teach the youth of our community how to swim. Allen would be proud to be associated with the impact this facility has had on the Arlington community," said Bill Gilmore, Assistant Director of Community Programs.

Besides the pool, Vandergriff Park has much to offer residents. And, more is scheduled. A community skate park, expansion of the playground, athletic field improvements and a new 2 mile trail around the perimeter of the park will be constructed within the next 18 months.

In addition to Allen Bolden, the City of Arlington has five other outdoor aquatic facilities throughout the city for residents and visitors to enjoy this summer. Jump into fun and these pools!
